The rocky coast to the north, with 80 m steep and massive walls rising above the ocean, gives a fantastic panoramic view over the Baltic Sea, whereas the rocky coast to the east is more flat, mild and more like an archipelago. The southern coast consists of kilometer’s of white sandy beaches beautifully decorated with dunes. The middle of the island is covered by a troll-like forest, and it is also Denmark’s third largest forest. It is one of the most interesting forests in Europe because it is spread out in a landscape of rocks and stone, crevices and hills, twined streams, large areas with swamps and idyllic lakes.

Bornholm is in many ways a world of it’s own. The island has it’s own pulse, speed, language and it’s vey own climate. Spring is dominated by cherry trees, rare anemones and scenting ramsons. The Summer is dominted by many hours of sunshine, and once the sun’s rays have warmed up the rocks, the sand and the water, the warmth lasts longer than elsewhere in Denmark. The Fall embraces the island in the most beautiful costume of colours, and the Winter puts a white cloth over the island and it is not polluted by smog from cars.

The islands offers many attractions from art, culture and ceramics to the more unique attractions where the visitor plays his own part like Middelaldercentret (The Middleage Center), NaturBornholm and the island’s wild prey show.
