Bornholm suits

Culture & museums - a proud people

You might think that the language spoken on Bornholm is out of the ordinary, but when you get to Bornholm you will soon see that this is not the only thing.

On Bornholm you encounter a special pride in the island, which even newcomers soon develop. There are many reasons for this, of course, reasons that you can delve into on your visit to Bornholm.

This probably has something to do with the wars around 1658, when Bornholm decided to free itself from its Swedish conquerors and presented itself to the Danish king. And it became even clearer after the Russian bombardment and during the Cold War, when the enemy was very close.

But look for the soul of the people when visiting the island. Talk to the people you meet, or visit some of the many museums, exhibitions and monuments that give insight into the unique history and evolution of the island.
